Beth Thomas has the perfect life. At thirty-five, she’s married to her
college sweetheart, has two adorable kids, and teaches part time at the
local university. But when a friend persuades Beth to go dancing on a
rare night out, a chance meeting with twenty one year old Dave, one of
her former students, changes the course of her life. Loud music, too
much to drink, and the thrill of feeling young again lead to an
unforgettable kiss that was never supposed to happen. As she tries to
put the memory behind her, Dave’s pursuit leaves Beth torn between what
her mind says is right and what her heart and body crave.
Patricia Mann’s “Is This All There Is?” introduces readers to the seemingly perfect world of Beth Thomas, a 35-year-old mother and wife who takes a risqué detour from diapers and duty to chart a course into erotica, deception and deceit. As the part-time college professor yields to the overpowering push and pull that follow a magnetic encounter with a former student, Beth is held captive in the seductive space that lingers between desire and reason. Honest and moving, Mann’s work is a touching snapshot of middle-America today, a compelling story about one woman’s struggle to keep up appearances while coming undone.

Sounds interesting. If I win the book token, I might buy it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Francis! I'd love to know what you think if you do. :)
DeleteI absolutely loved this book. The first time I read it, I literally sat in one spot for five hours, ignoring all of my responsibilities and devoured it from cover to cover. More recently, I took the time to reread it more slowly and savor the nuances. It's a book any wife and mother will enjoy and can relate to!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lori! I did the same thing with both Momnesia and Unexpecting and I'll be reading them again too, as well as everything else you ever write!
DeleteSounds like a really interesting story, not something I've personally experienced but I can understand it to some degree

So glad you think so, Shannon, and that you can understand to some degree. I tried to show how heartbreaking it is yet how even good people can fall into it.
DeleteOoh I love the new cover! The book looks and sounds amazing xx
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Nikki! xx
DeleteIntriguing cover. Great title.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sarka-Jonae! :)
DeleteThis sounds intriguing. I'd like to read it! Thanks for bringing the book to my attention ^_^

DeleteAbsolutely loved IS THIS ALL THERE IS? and the new cover is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Patricia on an amazing story that will definitely make some people sit up and think

Sandy, it made my day to read that! I really appreciate your kind words. That's exactly what I want the book to do.
DeleteOlder woman/younger man--very appealing.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Daisy. Yeah, it's usually the other way around, right? ;)
DeletePatricia...You are a university professor and your main character, Beth, teaches at a university. What other history or qualities do you share with Beth? The story isn't autobiographical, is it? LOL.
ReplyDeleteGreat question, Catherine. Yes, Beth and I are both professors and we're both married with two sons. But the part about her having an affair with a former student... she was on her own there!
DeleteGlad to hear it...although it does make for an intriguing fantasy, doesn't it? I also work at a college in a beach and film town and the students (male and female) are beautiful...and look younger every year!
DeleteThis has been an amazing tour!
ReplyDeleteThank you and yes, it has! Samantha March is incredibly organized, thorough, friendly, and helpful. Her blog tours are the best!!!
